Owners club door rubbers - (Read 292 Times)

I have ordered the door rubbers from the club, they supply an upper and lower. Can anyone advise on what the best way of fitting them and any tips or pictures would be great.

Hi Steve, did this a few weeks ago.

Removed the doors from the car, and placed them on a sheet outside. I advise you don't do this on a windy day under time pressure like we did. That said, it is a relatively quick job. We used an industrial glue my bodyshop provided, unsure what it is, but I know it isn't available outside of trade circles.

We started with the upper rubber first, this one was slightly too long and needed trimming to length. The lower rubber was a perfect fit and just glued straight on, after a dry run to see how they fit first, of course. To meet the gap between the upper and lower rubbers, we used bits of our old ones, although I've seen many different ways of doing this, some people just let the top rubber extend down far enough to meet the lower one. I'm afraid I don't have any pictures of this, but could get some if needed.

In regards to the rubbers themselves, we were told they're a new batch and different to the old ones. I can't compare, as this is the only car with club rubbers on we have. I can say, they seem fairly soft though, and door shut and fitment is exactly the same as it always was on this car.
